This model opposes the traditional problem deficit method which focuses on diagnosing problems occurring within an organization and formulating a solution for improving these problems. According to Steve Glushakow-Smith "the basic tenant of appreciative inquiry is that organizations grow in the direction that its people focus their attention". This means that when you focus on an organization's strength it will grow in its strengths, but when you focus on an organization's problem it will grow in that image. After researching both methods I have achieved a viewpoint that using appreciative inquiry is more beneficial to organizations than using the problem deficit model
