Comment on this: 1) Why is the cost of college in the United States higher than it is in many other parts of the world? Overtime Universities have been receiving form of their revenue from tuitions and state funding, meaning less if coming from taxpayers. To make more money Universities need to make their campus more enticing and marketable to both instate and out of state students. As a result more students will want to apply to attend the university and these Universities have the power to raise tuition. By making the University more marketable with amenities and prestige programs allows schools to raise their tuition because of the demand of students to attend. The implementation of unsubsidized loans after 1993 also contributed to the raise in tuition prices. 2) Why is Temple University one of the more expensive public universities in the country? Over a decade ago Temple experienced state funding cuts that heavily caused the tuition prices to be raised as the funding was a main source of revenue. Temple University also does not have the endowment resources that many other state schools like Pitt and Penn State have. Temple has also had to keep up with inflation
