Sophie contracted to sell Basil her sailing dinghy, its road trailer, one or other of the two identical outboard motors which she kept with them, and the wooden shed, bolted onto brick foundations, in which they all were stored. They agreed that Sophie should repair the brakes on the trailer and then tow it, with the dinghy and the motor, to Basil's house, probably the next day, while Basil would come with a hired lorry two days later to dismantle and take away the shed. However, later that same day the shed, together with everything in it, was destroyed by fire. A few hours before this happened Sophie had agreed by telephone with Theresa to sell her one of the motors (which one was not specified); she had then gone to the shed and labelled one of the motors with Theresa's name.
