Company Overview: Amrita Singh recently graduated from the Masters' of Management program at Schulich School of Business and is interested in entrepreneur studies. Two summers ago, while visiting her parent's in India, she was inspired by one of her mother's recipes. Her mother would often say; "when life gives you lemons, make lemonade and her mother's recipe for a home-made lemonade (passed on to her by her mother) was delicious. It was made with fresh lemons, sugar, water, cardamom, and cinnamon. This drink, served with soda water and ice, was a very popular thirst-quenching beverage in certain areas of India. Amrita has been unable to find a similar product in Canada and she thinks that there is an opportunity to make and sell a similar product in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). And so, Amrita started her own business called Amrita's Drinks and Tonics Company (AD&T). The recipe is based on Amrita's grandmother's original recipe and uses only organic fresh ingredients (see appendix 1). Amrita's business has steadily grown and last year the company had sales that exceeded $250,000. The drink is stored for several days and then filtered. The lemons are imported from California and 2.5 lemons go into each 1-litre bottle of lemonade. The fresh-squeezed lemon juice gives Amrita's lemonade a distinct bright fresh flavour. Because Amrita uses only natural ingredients, she can sell her lemonade as certified organic, which makes it a popular choice with health-food stores. Revenue Planning for 2020: Amrita intends to charge $3.29 per 1-litre bottle of lemonade in 2020.
