Innovative Reading Grant Sponsored by Capstone Monetary Amount: $2,500 Deadline: February 1 Applications will open September 1, 2022 Overview The AASL Innovative Reading Grant supports the planning and implementation of a unique and innovative program for K-ch learners which motivates and encourages reading, especially with struggling readers. Eligibility Applicant must be personal member of AASL. Criteria All applications for the grant will be judged against the following criteria: 1. This award is for a successful reading project that demonstrates the potential to improve reading in K-ch learners. The project or reading program should promote the importance of reading, facilitate the learners' literacy development, and be supported by current reading research, practice, and policy. 2. The potential to measure and evaluate the impact and reading improvement for its learners. 3. Reading program must be specifically designed for learners (grades K9) in the school library setting. 4. Program must encourage innovative ways to motivate and involve learners in reading. Existing commercial programs will not be considered. 5. Project should demonstrate potential to impact student learning, especially reading. 6. Originality of project and methodology. 7. Potential for replication of the program should be apparent. 8. Demonstration of the ability of the applicant(s) to undertake and successfully complete the project. 9. A project plan that includes a timeline, budget, and clarity of purpose. 10. Research should be evidence-based and scholarly in nature. nop JAB Discovery Research Prek-12 (DRK- View Guidelines 12) 20-572Full Proposal 2022 October 5 - Deadline Date (3' First Wednesday in October, Annually Thereafter Program Guidelines Award Information Pending availability of funds, NSF anticipates approximately $60,000,000 will be available for the FY2021 competition. Normal limits for funding requests of DRK -12 proposals are as follows: (1) Level I projects up to $450,000 with a duration of up to three years; (2) Level II projects up to $3,000,000 with a duration of up to fouryears; and (3) Level III projects up to $5,000,000 with a duration of up to five years. Synthesis proposals are up to $600,000 and three years duration. Conference proposals are up to $100,000 and one year duration. The level of funding requested should align with the maturity of the proposed work, the size and scope of the empirical effort, and the capacity of the interdisciplinary team to conduct the proposed research. Estimated Number of Awards 50 to 60 - It is anticipated that about 12-15 Level | awards, 30-35 Level II awards, 5-7 Level III awards, and 3 Conference/Synthesis awards will be made in FY 2021, pending availability of funds. A Resource Center with a budget of up to $3,500,000 will also be supported for a duration of 3 years in the 2021 fiscal year
