In my work environment, I have witnessed organizational transformation.Change is constant at the Department of Corrections.Communication of the transformation vision and goals was vital to managing the transition.The employees were asked to suggest ways to implement the change.Feedback was sought from employees after a plan was created.A plan was subsequently implemented, and progress was communicated to employees.The plan was successful, resulting in increased morale and productivity. Employees were given recognition for their contributions to the transformation. The transformation also led to improved services for all staff.
The following things helped with the transition:Providing employees with information regarding the goals and vision of the transformation.Employees understood what the change was trying to accomplish and why it was necessary.Involving employees in the process.As a result, employees felt valued and included in the process.Lastly, developing a plan.This helped organize the transformation and ensured that everyone knew what was going on (Taylor, N.D.).As part of the plan, employees would be trained onupdatedtechniques,a revisedpolicy would be implemented, and goals would be set.Employees embraced the transformation, leading to increased efficiency and morale. The change was successful, and the organization could meet its goals.
The following factors contributed to the transition not going well: Not involving employees in decision-making.It made employees feel that their opinions didn't matter and weren't involved in the process.Lack of communication with employees.There was confusion and frustration among employees as a result.Lacking a plan.It made the transformation appear chaotic and unorganized.
For a successful transition, communication is essential(Galbraith, 2018).Keeping employees informed and involved is crucial so they feel engaged in decision-making.This will help create sense of ownership and giveemployees confidencethat their opinionsare heard.Providing clear guidance during the transition andensuring properresources are available is also essential.
Hello everyone! My Name is Brittney Jones.
Im from Augusta GA. This is my last term in this program and I'm looking forward to seeing what's next after completion. I Graduated from Paine College with a degree in Business Management. Ive held numerous management and leadership positions that include retail management, coaching girls AAU basketball, High School Girls basketball and now currently serving as an outreach manager for a primary care facility. During the pandemic I sat and contemplated on what I wanted to do in regard to my career and how I can grow more professionally. So in 2020 I decided to come back for my masters and it has honestly been the most rewarding experience thus far.
In my current role as manager we recently had some changes to our bonus structure for my agents. When I interviewed and hired them I advised them of all the bonuses and commission they would be receiving which was a great way to get them eager about the job. Well after a few months I attend a meeting where it was stated that they were cutting some of those bonuses. As a manager that has build rapport with my agents it was hard to go back and relay the message that they won't be getting all of the bonuses that was previously promised and this hurt me. I even attempted to offer suggestions with my upper management on how we can rectify this so that they can still get paid and it didn't go well. I remained calm, I kept reassuring my team that Im here for them and understand if they have to make some hard decisions on whether to stay. I would've like the organization to give me time to prepare or present the change first before just telling my team this so quickly not giving them time to adjust.
