Compose a paper ten to twelve pages in length. It must include a references section.

Select a disaster that has happened in the last 20 years (except the September 11 attacks) and assess how response was managed from a mental health perspective. The disaster you select could be national or international and you must complete the following tasks within the paper:

1. Provide an overview of the disaster with important details

2. Address how the following were addressed by government officials and emergency managers:

special/vulnerable populations

risk/crisis communication

psychological first aid

short term and long term mental health care for responders and the community

3. Highlight some strengths and areas for improvement regarding the mental health response.

4. Explain what steps you would have taken to better manage response.
