Composition \& Visual Depth Summary of assignment: Create a composition depicting visual depth on illustration board ( 2030inch) that incorporates at least ten mathematical concepts/constructions. The assignment must be completed in colour (no pure white or black) acrylic paint and 1 additional colour medium (see material list). When developing your composition, you will be using the mathematical concepts as the primary elements within your work. These elements will take the place, or position, of the subject(s) within the work, that occupy the positive spaces. It is important to consider these elements in a variety of sizes (scale), position/placement, and proximity to each other (grouping, overlapping, etc.) and how alterations to these properties affect the overall composition. You will also need to consider how the use of various math constructions and art techniques will help establish good structure (pattern, wall-paper design, etc.), strong movement, and depth within the composition. Establishing visual depth is a core feature of this assignment and you will need to utilize several techniques to create this illusion (perspective, optical illusions of space, value, etc.) Required Art Materials: (see art supply list) - 2030-inch illustration board. - Acrylic paint and one additional colour medium (coloured marker, pencil, paint pen, etc.) - Paint supplies, ruler, etc. Colour Requirements: - This assignment is a colour-based assignment. You are free to work with any colours you'd like, however, it is recommended that you work with colours from a common colour harmony. - The use of pure black, white, or grey is not permitted. Black, white, or grey should only be used to tint, tone, or shade a colour. Required labels: (place labels on top of the work for the second photograph submission) - All ten math concepts must be neatly labeled. Labels can be hand written, printed, or added digitally, but must be legible.
