Conduct Interviews for Receptionist Position (Roleplays)

You have conducted a preliminary screening of candidates and removed all candidates who failed to meet the selection criteria of knowledge of phone systems, answering, hold and transfer functions as required.

You are left to two (2) potential candidates which meet the required selection criteria.

For this activity you need to conduct two (2) interviews with two (2) different candidates for the Receptionist Position.

Follow the steps below with each candidate and record the interviews (roleplays) as indicated in the below Interview Record Sheet:

  1. Schedule interview and advise candidates of the time, date and location of the interview (face-to-face or online)
  2. Conduct interview and ask the eight (8) interview questions you developed in Activity 3.
  3. Obtain two (2) referee contact details from each candidate
  4. Assess the candidate's skills against the selection criteria

Make assessment of candidate suitability and decide which candidate will be short listed (You must select only one (1), and base that selection on the most suitable candidate based on merit in accordance with the NCT HR Management Policy & Procedure

Selection Criteria - (Receptionist)

  • Effective communication skills
  • Friendly and approachable personality
  • Ability to multitask
  • Problem solving skills
  • Minimum of six (6) months previous experience preferred
  • Knowledge of phone systems, answering, hold and transfer functions

During the roleplay, use language suitable to diverse audiences. Ask questions and listen carefully to gather, interpret or evaluate information.

You may choose to hold this roleplay with any of the following individuals:

  • Friends
  • Family
  • Colleagues

You are required to record the interviews. You must record the interviews on a video format such as MP4/ MOV/ WMV/ AVI/ on your phone/ on your computer or similar. You may use, Zoom Meetings or similar record features should you choose to conduct an online meeting.

  2. Your video should be between 6-10 minutes only.
  3. You must ensure the video is no longer than ten (10) minutes.
