Consider a production line which makes heavy products. All the jobs flow from machine to machine in the line connected by a conveyer system due to the job weight. However, due to factory space and layout, the conveyer line breaks between two of the machines and then continues as a regular conveyer for all the remaining machines in the production line. The jobs are 150lbs and can't be carried easily across the factory to the continuation point for the second part of the production line connected by the conveyer system. So, due to the size and weight of each job, the company has a pallet setup for moving the jobs between the two separated parts of the line. The pallet can hold up to 5 jobs and a forklift is dedicated to moving the loaded pallets across the factory. The factory's IE analysis group has a model of the production line, but the need to know the cycle-time of the machine receiving the pallets as inputs (again single job processing) and the SCV of its departure stream so they can connect it into there full factory flow model. They want this data for all possible pallet loading sizes (1 to 5). Ignoring the transportation (wait and transportation time using the forklift) of the pallets, determine the CT and departure SCV for that machine due to the batch move aspects of the system. The machine data is: arrival rate of 2 jobs/hour, with an SCV of 5/4. The single machine serves one job at a time with data E[S]=0.43 hours/job and processing time variation being Erlang-2
