Consider each of the core qualitative research designs supported by GCU (there are 6 core qualitative designs). How would the information gained from conducting the study differ from design to design? Explain. Which of the GCU core qualitative designs do you believe would best serve the purpose of the study? Why? Why would the other designs not be as effective? Explain.

GCU uses majorly 4 of them which are:

  1. Descriptive (historical)
  2. Narrative
  3. Case Study
  4. Phenomenology
  5. Grounded Theory- rarely used at GCU unless the researcher is already an experienced researcher and has more time to spend to finish his/her doctoral journey related to the depth of data and multiple iterations of data required
  6. Ethnography- extremely rarely used at GCU for the same reasons.
