Consider the following independent situations:

a) Glen Rivera is an employee of Kate Custom Designs Ltd. (KCD) and was using his own car to deliver goods to one of KCD's customers. Since the customer lived in another town in the same area where his girlfriend lived, Glen took time out to visit her for lunch. As he approached his girlfriend's house, Glen was involved in an automobile accident with Grigori Pavlovich. Grigori sued both Glen and KCD.

b) Ashleigh Duggan worked for Heidi Crusher at Heidi's Daycare as a supervisor, supervising the childcare staff, for six years. Ashleigh was also responsible for office duties such as reconciling parent fees and government funding. For the six years before she was a supervisor, Ashleigh was one of the childcare staff. Recently, Heidi reorganized the daycare centre. As a result, there was NO supervisory work left and the supervisor position was eliminated. Ashleigh was told that she would need to go back into the classroom as one of the childcare staff. Ashleigh refused to take her previous role back and sued Heidi's Daycare.

c) Gryz Gromun had worked for Frank's Manufacturing Co. for 10 years when the owner, Frank Hooly, told Gryz that because Frank had lost a major contract, he had NO work for Gryz to do, and Gryz was fired as of that time. Gryz sued Frank's Manufacturing Co.

d) Tim Suits is a self-employed insurance broker. Tim's client, Grady Wong, wished to purchase home insurance. As was his normal practice, Tim got into his car and drove past Grady's house to determine if everything appeared as stated by Grady. In the process of doing so, Tim struck a pedestrian crossing the street in a crosswalk because he was distracted by his examination of Grady's house. The injured pedestrian sued both Tim and Grady.

Required: Explain the likely outcome of each independent situation. (8 marks)
