Week Forecast Orders Projected Available Balance 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 20 20 20 20 30 30 25 25 30 25 23 12 18 16 10 ISH 5 20 20 Available to Promise MPS 50 50 50 b) The following events occurred during week 1: 1) Actual demand during week 1 was indeed 25 units. 2) Only 45 units of the planned MPS was produced. 3) Marketing forecasted that 40 units would be needed for week 9. Provide an updated MPS table that you will see in the beginning of week 2. Note that, in your new MPS table, previous week 2 is now relabeled as week 1, etc., and week 9 is relabeled as week 8. c) By using the updated MPS table in part (b), answer the following inquiries. Evaluate the inquiries in the sequence given below and if you accept a certain order, update the time- phase MPS record before you consider the next inquiry. 1) Do you have 20 units in week 4? If not, how soon can you provide it? 2) Do you have 40 units in week 5? If not, how soon can you provide it? 3) Do you have 55 units in week 6? If not, how soon can you provide it? Note that backordering and order splitting is allowed. Since we do not have any additional information about this particular problem, we will refrain from increasing the values of any MPS or schedule a new MPSs in the slushy zone.
