During a practice session of a high school team one of your players is not putting full effort into the fitness segment of your session. The athlete has a history of making excuses, claiming sickness or injury, and often tries to avoid these sessions. It is becoming a distraction for the rest of the team, and resentment toward this player is starting to build. Before you address the player you notice that the athlete's parents are in close proximity. The parents have a history of being overly involved, or 'helicopter parents' and have a tendency to coddle their child. To complicate things further, the parents are major booster to your program and help fund a significant portion of your annual budget. This contribution allows for the other players in your team to experience 2 out of state tournaments and a tour to Europe.
