Consider Token-Passing schemes for a network with 50 stations, link capacity of 32 Mbps, and a total
propagation delay around the virtual ring topology of 20ms. Assume no network problems or TX errors below.
a.(5%) How long will it take for a station to know that its own msg (12 KB) is successfully received by the
receiver by using either release-after-reception (RaR) or release-after-transmission(RaT)? Is there a
difference between the two schemes? Assume the token transmission time can be ignored.
b.(5%) Will your answer in Part a change if other stations are trying to transmit at the same time? Why?
c.(5%) What if there are N(<=50) stations have the same size msg (12KB) to transmit? How long will it
take for ALL stations to know that their msg are successfully received under RaR and RaT?
d.(5%) What would be a reasonable timer to indicate something went wrong for this network?
