Consider your findings in implementing Section B.5 and your analysis of the "gwft.txt" file you have created in Section B.6 to fill in the blanks.
The IPv.4@ of the adapter connecting Gw to intnet-1 is .......
The IPv.4@ of the gateway leading to intnet-2 is ......
The IPV.4@ of the adapter connecting Gw to loopback network is .......
The Tnetmask of limited broadcast is .......
The IPV. 4 @ of the gateway leading to intnet-3 is .......
B.5 Analyzing Border Gateway Forwarding Table
Gw Forwarding Table static routes have been initialized when its adapters were configured (the Bridged
adapter dynamically and the intnet-1 adapter manually in Section B.4/ii).
i) On Gw open a CLI and run the "route print" command
ii) The output must display static routing information generated for adapters, connected to accessible
networks, namely:
the loopback network "127.0.0.0255.0.0.0"
the intent-1" network "172.16.7.96.255.255.25.254"
the external" network "192.168..... or 10.0.....
iii) You may disregard the multicast network IPv. 4 @ "224.0.0.0" but analyze the broadcast IPv.4@
defined for the above networks and try to figure out how they are used.
Refer to use cases presented in lecture slides for the explanation of table columns and resulting routing decisions.
B.6 Configuring Border Gateway Static Routes
Perform the following procedures to add downstream subnets to Gw.
i) Enable Gw "Shared Clipboard" feature through "Devices" Tab.
ii) Open a command window with administrative access rights.
iii) Copy & paste Gw's "route add" command(s) from "routes.txt" file you have defined in Section A.8.
iv) Display the forwarding table with the "route print" command.
v) identify the new entries & analyze their Network Destination, Network Mask, Gateway, Interface definitions.
vi) Run the "route print > gwft.txt" command to store your configuration in the "gwft.txt" file.
You may upload the "gwft.txt" file to your Host for reporting, using VirtualBox "Shared Folders" mechanism
introduced in Project 5. Section D.4.
Do not forget that your downstream subnet route definitions are not permanent.
They will be lost when the VM reboots. You need to configure them again.
System administrator will set them as permanent once all the configurations are successfully done.
