Considering the broad spectrum of stakeholders associated with correctional administration, administrators are bound to make decisions contrary to the views of one side or the other. When maintaining a working relationship between stakeholders with differing outcome needs, it is first important to maintain professionalism and politeness in the face of adversity (Baruah, 2015). Empathy goes a long way when making decisions that will impact everyone that you are involved with and being able to discuss your position on a matter with facts, as well as a willingness to listen, you are more likely to have backing from both sides.
