In January 20X6, Niland sold a three-year-old computer to McKie for $24000. At the sale date, the computer's carrying amount was $22 500 and it had an expected remaining life of two years. McKie is depreciating the computer straight-line over the two years, assuming no residual amounts. $2000 impairment of consolidation goodwill was recognised for the year. There has been no impairment of the investment in McKie.
