The idea that I have for my project is the topic of trauma and how it affects a student's learning and behavior. My proposed audience is school staff or anyone who works with children. I might access the needed data set that I need by conducting research within the school system and the online database. I think this would be a good research project to present to my audience because not only do I plan to work in the school system in the future, but also completing my field practicum as a School Social Worker, I will be working with a lot of students who has experienced trauma, in which it has affected their behavior and even caused some of them to suffer from poor academic performance, as well as, or negative consequences for negative behaviors. I think that this research is important because I feel that a lot of these negative behaviors and consequences could be reduced if school staff understood trauma and knew correct ways to deal with students who has experienced it. Understanding the effects of trauma could possibly increase academic scores, as well as reduce behavior issues and punishment from negative behaviors.
