Contract Experience:
Scenario: Sally Seller (who is 16 years old) works out a deal to provide 50 watermelons to Bobby Buyer for $5 each from May to August, 10 weeks, so he can sell them at the Farmers Market in the Localtown. Bobby Buyer ends up selling the watermelons for $10 each at the Localtown Farmers Market. In Week 6, Sally Seller stops selling to Bobby Buyer and starts to sell to Pat Purchaser for $10 each. Pat Purchaser is able to sell the watermelons at Yuppietown Farmers Market for $15 each watermelon. Bobby is unhappy, but has found a replacement supplier who offers to supply watermelons for $7 each.
- If you were the judge and this case came into your court, how would you decide?
- Specifically, should Sally be forced to sell watermelons to Bobby Buyer... or is there some other solution?
