You are in charge of the layout project for the new home of Huskie Manufacturing, and therefore must determine and understand the square footage requirements for not only the manufacturing space, but the auxiliary and service areas. Your assignment is to review the assumptions/requirements below, and: - Calculate and list all square footage requirements for each of the areas. - Calculate and list a total square footage requirement. - Calculate the percentage of manufacturing space consumed by travel aisles. - Include a brief explanation of how you arrived at EACH of your numbers. Your textbook will provide all of the calculations necessary to arrive at your answers. Note that any area specified for shop use (i.e. restrooms) are in ADDITION to space already dedicated and specified for manufacturing. No drawings are required, but if a sketch will help go ahead and create one. 100 points. Huskie Manufacturing - Office Employees: (35) men, (35) women - Shop Employees: (150) men, (50) women - Parking facilities: - One separate lot for office employees. In order to provide space for visitor and ADA parking, assume a ratio of 1.00 employees per parking space. Provide number of spaces and total square feet. No need to provide number of ADA spaces - this will be defined when lot is striped. One separate lot for shop employees. Assume a ratio of 1.25 employees per space, and provide number of spaces and total square feet. Use same assumption as above in consideration of ADA parking. - Building entrance: Assume (1) large entrance (reference figure 9-4 in book). Provide a security office. Provide Personnel office. - Locker Room: Provide a Men's locker room and Women's locker room large enough for shop employees. They will be basic and without shower facilities. - Restrooms: One for each sex in office area. Men's room to include (1) urinal. One for each sex in shop area. Men's room to include (3) urinals. - Lunchroom: Lunchroom will be vending only, and since it will be used for company meetings, please consider total number of employees. - Drinking fountains: Office: (2) Shop (6) - Driver's lounge: o Assume an average of (2) drivers waiting simultaneously. - Manufacturing space: - Facility dedicated to manufacturing is 400 long by 200 wide. There is (1) forklift aisle running lengthwise and (2) others perpendicular that split the building into three sections on either side of the "main" aisle. Assume bi-directional traffic in ALL aisles. - Maintenance Department: Assume that we staff maintenance at a rate of 3%. Assume 500 square feet for equipment. Assume 300 square feet for supply and part storage. This is meant to be a fun and thought-provoking exercise. Don't overthink it. No considerations are necessary about distance traveled from lot to building, or walk times to break areas. Please let me know if you have any questions. If a department is not listed, do not provide an estimate for it
