Correlation is a relationship between two variables. Correlation coefficient allows us find the strength and direction of the relationship between two variables. For example, there is usually a strong negative correlation (relationship) between the price of a car and its age, but there is usually a strong and positive correlation (relationship) between square feet and the price of a house. But people often confuse correlation with causation.
