If the drum majors (the conductors) are standing at the endzone (0 yard line), what dB level are they experiencing, if they were not wearing ear plugs? (hint: think about the inverse square law) b. One of the drum majors, John Phillips Sousa, is wearing ear plugs, but other, Ludvig Von Beethoven is not. Sousa's ear plugs reduce the amplitude of the sound by 25dB. How much less intense is the sound wave that reaches Sousa's ear compared to the wave that reaches Beethoven's ear? c. What is the difference in pressure of the wave reaching Sousa's ear compared to Beethoven's ear? d. Clarinets are much quieter instruments and one clarinet standing at the 50 yard line can produce a sound with an amplitude of 56dB at the 25 yard line.
