Each pupil undertook a memory test and then played chess daily for 9 months, they then completed another memory test. The following table shows the memory test scores of the 15 pupils. - 510 850 m_ 790 m_ 850 m- we - m m- 700 - 450 690 -_ m m 680 675 650 565 600 Let 2i = yi - x; be the increase in score, that is the difference between memory test scores before (xi) and after playing chess for 9 months (yi), for the ith pupil. Calculate the increase in score (zbi = 1 15) and obtain the ve-number summary. Check using the appropriate rule for the presence of outliers. Draw a boxplot using the ve-number summary of increase in score and comment on the shape of the distribution. [13] At a 5% level of signicance test if playing chess has produced a signicant increase in the memory test scores.
