OPTION 1 - CASE STUDY USING ETHICS WORKSHEET a. Identify an actual case that includes ethical considerations. The issue may involve ethics for IT workers and users, cyberattacks, cyber security, privacy, freedom of expression, intellectual property, software development, information technology, social media, IT organization, etc. The sweep is broad, though the case in some way involves a social media application or the web. Try to choose an issue you're already interested in (Clipitch) or something based on a personal experience. It will make this project more fun to do. The choice must NOT be something we already used for a class case study. To find ideas, read, listen, or watch. Get ideas from your online books or class discussion forums. You can find oodles of ethically-sensitive cases out there if you're looking. I won't give you possible choices here-as this is a college-level class, it's time for you to take the initiative! b. Identify the ethical issue posed by the case, collect background information on this issue from online library sources, and interview with experts, if possible. You will need to explain: a. How organizations in the past have handled the issue; b. Legal considerations; c. Professional considerations; d. Opinions of IT experts. Basically, tell me everything the world knows about the ethical issue raised by your sample case. c. Complete the ethics worksheet, decide how you would, or would have, handled the case. This part of the project is similar to previous class case studies. Length: Using the ethics worksheet as an outline, the description of the case should be at least one page. Research on the case should total at least 5 to 7 pages, and a good 8 sources, books, and articles included - not only websites! You will probably have to rely on the library's online databases. Your paper should use the ethics worksheet questions, with each question number indicated. Your answer will probably be in narrative and bulleted form, as you think works best. This means your description of the case will fit into, perhaps, questions two and three. Considering how ethical theories relate to your case will include question 11, etc. Your ethics worksheet analysis is about 10-12 double-spaced, typewritten pages. OBJECTIVES: 1. To recognize an ethical issue based on an actual situation; 2. To understand how ethics philosophers and writers have considered your chosen issue 3. To critically analyze a case, acknowledging ambiguities You will be the expert on this issue at the end of your work. So, I expect to read in your work a lot that I don't know already
