-Presents with back pain, is irritable, is repeatedly going over thoughts, is prone to trembling, is easy to startle and is also not sleeping well.

-Recently and currently feeling anxious all day; every day.

-They want to be able to participate in day-to-day activities but see danger in all activities.

-They cry because they are exhausted at not being able to sleep.

-They are constantly worrying.

-They are feeling very overwhelmed.

Goal: learn and implement coping skills that will bring about some reduction of anxiety.

Client 2: Relationship breakdown

-Gay, Lesbian or Trans

-Relationship breakdown after 3 years

-Presents teary, is stressed, because they must move out of the shared house in a week's time, is angry and they are also having thoughts of revenge against their now ex and is also cash poor

-They become extremely agitated during session.

-They are constantly fidgeting and not listening.

-They think that counselling will be a waste of time, because the issue is the partner's - "Everything would be fine, if the partner hadn't ended the relationship".

GOAL: learn and implement some anger management skills

Client 3: Depressed

-Very depressed

-Has arthritis in their shoulders

-Was made redundant 9 months ago

-Was diagnosed with Persistent Depressive Disorder 3 years ago

-Presents reluctant to talk, is hungry all the time, is having trouble concentrating, things that used to give them pleasure, no longer do, they have stopped taking their prescribed Anti-depressant medication and they have also started to use alcohol to self- medicate.

-The partner has brought the client in because they wanted to cancel their scheduled appointment.

-They try to answer questions with one word or brief statements.

-They have withdrawn from family and friends.

-Halfway through the interview, they state "What's the point?" "It's all too hard".

GOAL: learn and implement skills to bring about some reduction of hopelessness thinking.
