COMM34 Intercultural Communications Team Report For this assignment, your team has been hired by a Kingston business to prepare a formal presentation for the company's new Head of international Development, Mr. Jay Pritchett. The company is currently planning a massive international expansion over the next ten years and has hired your team to prepare a report on the need-to-know details of how to communicate effectively with a culture they will soon be visiting. Your presentation will include all the necessary information for Mr. Pritchett's team to succeed when they arrive in a country of your choosing. Each group will get to select their own business to work for. The only rule is the business must be locally owned and operated. Possible options include The Screening Room, Juniper Caf, Trailhead, Grocery Basket, or Varsity Properties. You will work in teams to prepare a video report or Podcast (Between 3 and 5 minutes in length) as well as a one-page "Cheat-sheet," using COMM34 business writing guidelines. Groups will present the report and cheat-sheet to the business during in class presentations on Dec. 8 . (All group members must be present for the presentations). Your Video/Podcast must include the following elements: 1. Introduction: Clearly lay out the purpose of the report, why it's important, and a summary of what's to come. Introduce members of your team. 2. Whether the country has a low-or high-context culture. a. What that means, and how it will impact the way your Mrs. Lockhart and her team communicate with people in the courtry 2. Business etiquette: gift-giving, dining alcohol, religion, punctuality, business card handing, meeting mannerisms) and any key cultural dos and don'ts (including attire requirements) 3. Basic phrases visitors should know, including English translations. 4. Conclusion: Summarize the most importart elements of the report Note: All information must come from a reliable mix of reliable mix of secondary and primary sources. Students can either clearly sta te within the video/podcast, where the information came from (Eg. According to CBC News,-), or they can list their sources at the conclusion of the video/podcast. On top of the video/podcast, each group must prepare a one-page cheat sheet with the most important information from the report. (For people who didn't watch the video or listen to the podcast, this cheat sheet should give them all the necessary information in order to communicate effectively with representatives from your specific country). The one-page cheat sheet must follow all COMM34 business writing guidelines (1.5" spacing, 12 -point font)
