Unit; CHCCCSOO4 (Assess co-existing needs)
Read the following information about a client called Sam; from this, evaluate and identify his three main needs. Next, assess the information and identify two further complex, multiple and/or interrelated issues. Sam Sam is thirty-five years old; he lives at home with his elderly parents and has never been employed or lived independently, due to suffering from a social anxiety disorder. Sam finds socialising is extremely difficult, and when faced with a social situation outside of the home, he becomes physically sick and often experiences panic attacks. Due to his isolation, he also suffers from depression. His social anxiety disorder developed when Sam was a teenager and progressively worsened, as his family often moved for his father's work, and Sam never established friendships or relationships with other persons when he was growing up.
Sam's parents are both retired and have recently suffered from their own physical health needs; they realise that they cannot look after Sam as they currently have been, and as a family, are looking to receive help to enable Sam to manage his anxiety and to seek a route to independent living.
