Create 20 slides in power point .The goal is to create an abbreviated Preliminary Design Review (PDR) for an actual system that the U.S. Navy sought bids on from industry Your target audience is your Government customer, which would consist of a group of active duty Naval officers and some Government civilians, at least one of whom would be a Systems Engineer You should end up with about 20 slides Use the following imaginary excerpts from a SOW and Product Specification along with the mission description, need, and gap analysis to create a PDR slide deck that follows the outline.Creative license is authorized to fill in the gaps of information, to include derived requirements, requirements compliance, etc.Slide 1: Start with an overall description of your system with some operational context, such as the goals and purpose of the system Slide 2: Create a functional flow block diagram (1 slide) Slide 3: Create a system (physical) block diagram showing primary interfaces (1 slide) Slides 4-5: Allocate requirements to sub-systems (2 slides) Slides 6-7: Create a Spec compliance matrix including verification method and predicted compliance (2 slides) I want you to suggest the verification method even though this would normally be directed by the customer Slides 8-9: Provide a Technology Readiness Assessment (TRA) on a component of your choice (2 slides) Slides 10-13: Perform a trade study and show results (4 slides) Perform your trade study on the displays that will be part of the below-deck system by researching available COTS displays on the internet Slide 14: Name the Technical Performance Measures (TPM), including how they will be used to track design maturity (1 slide) Slides 15-16: Describe a proposed test flow, including the tests to be performed and their objectives (2 slides) Slides 17-19: Provide a risk analysis (3 slides) Slide 20: Construct a program schedule (you can use MS Project or just make an Excel spreadsheet)(1 slide) Slides 21-22: Construct a WBS for the program (2 slides) MISSION NEED STATEMENT The U.S. Navy needs a sensor upgrade for the currently fielded Phalanx Block 1A Close-In Weapon System (CIWS). The Phalanx was originally designed to handle the threat presented by sea skimming cruise missiles. Todays threat environment is dominated by asymmetric warfare conducted by non-state actors as well as an increasingly belligerent Iranian Republican Guard Corps Navy (IRGC-N). The existing cannon system remains an effective weapon against a wide array of threats but lacks a targeting system against non-radar significant targets On the morning of Thursday, 12 October 2000, USS Cole, under the command of Commander Kirk Lippold, docked in Aden harbor for a routine fuel stop. Cole completed mooring at 09:30; refueling started at 10:30. Around 11:18 local time (08:18 UTC), a small fiberglass boat carrying explosives and two suicide bombers approached the port side of the destroyer and exploded, creating a 40-by-60-foot gash in the ship's port side, killing 17 sailors, and injuring 39 others. The Navy has begun design work on Medium Range Target Detection and Tracking (MRTDT) system that would hand off target tracks to the Phalanx Block 1B CIWS. This contract has already been awarded to a major prime contractor who will also be responsible for integration of the Phalanx Block 1B targeting system. Propose a design for the Phalanx Block 1B targeting system. This includes a sensor suite called the above-deck system and a display and control system called the below-deck system. SOWThe contractor shall design, build, test, and deliver five sensor systems, including displays and controls and associated executable software The contractor shall provide program management resources sufficient to control the cost and schedule of the proposed program The contractor shall establish a risk management program The contractor shall perform qualification testing consisting of ESS, vibration, salt fog, moisture intrusion, sand and dust, and temperature in accordance with the SpecificationThe contractor shall hold meetings and reviews in accordance with Table 1 STATEMENT OF WORK (SOW), CONT. Event Schedule in Days After Receipt of Order (ARO) SRR 60 Technical Interchange Meeting (TIM) #180 PDR 120 TIM #2140 CDR 180 TIM #3200 TRR NLT 10 days before start of testing Pre-Qual PCA NLT 5 days before start of testing Post-Qual FCA and PCA NLT 30 days after completion of testingSpecifiafion. The system shall detect, track, and identify targets in day and night conditions The system shall meet all performance requirements in tropical maritime conditions as defined in MIL-STD-810G The system shall accept a cue from the ships MRTDT system The system shall detect targets at 25 nautical miles (nm) range The system shall track targets at 20 nm range The system shall identify targets described on slide 7 at 10 nm range The system shall provide azimuth and elevation to the tracked target with an accuracy greater than or equal to 0.1 milliradians The below-deck system shall operate in temperatures from 0-50 degrees Celsius The above-deck system shall operate in temperatures from -20 to 60 degrees Celsius The above-deck system shall be impervious to moisture penetration The system shall provide range to target accurate to within 1 meter The system shall provide range rate accurate to within 0.1 meters per second The above-deck system shall fit within a volume of 1 foot x 1 foot x 2.5 feet The below-deck system shall fit within a volume of 3 feet x 3 feet x 3 feet (not including the cables or displays) The displays shall be no larger than 27 inches measured across the diagonal of the viewable area The above-deck system shall weigh no more than 35 pounds The below-deck system shall weigh no more than 80 pounds The system shall operate on 270 Volt DC power The above-deck system shall require no more that 150 Watts of power The below-deck system shall require no more than 100 Watts of power The system shall integrate with the ships Local Area Network to distribute sensor image in real time. The system shall integrate with the ship GPS navigation system to provide absolute target location.
