The three retention strategies that are most important to me are salary, flextime scheduling, and job satisfaction. The first retention strategy that I feel is most important to me is salary. I believe that salary is one of the key strategies that can lower retention. When paid a proper salary, employees are more motivated to do their job and do it right. Proper salaries can lower turnover as well. There is no negatives when it comes to paying your employees properly, and a fair market rate based on many factors (Duggan, n.d.). Salary is important to me because I want to be paid for the accurate, and precise job I do. Until very recently, I was making significantly below fair market rate for the job I do. I had to advocate for myself, as well as my direct supervisor to get my rate raised after 4.5 years with our company. I do feel more valued now
