1. Choose and describe the challenge you experienced related to the question

When you're preparing for an interview, look at some common questions about your on-the-job behavior and practice PAR responses to them. While you may not know what an interviewer may ask, you can find lists of questions online. Using these, you can see a variety of questions and think about your best examples of challenges and solutions you experienced in the workplace. Choose one of your experiences that exemplifies your problem-solving skills and how you respond to stress. Once you choose one, describe the events that created the problem to fulfill the "P" in the PAR method.

2. Describe what actions you took to solve your specific challenge

As part of your practice sessions and questions, describe what actions you took. Include if your response to the challenge was a tool your job gave you or if you created it as you responded to the situation. Provide the reasoning you made those decisions and how that drove you toward the actions you took. This can help you show the interviewer you thought through the situation and help you know about workplace experiences you feel confident talking about. Practicing these responses can help you find your best responses to workplace challenges.

3. Describe how your actions brought about positive changes to the challenge

Once you describe the actions you took, explain how others responded to your decisions. This includes any challenges presented by others in the situation and how you handled them, what positive changes occurred because of your actions and how you might change your response if that challenge occurred again while you're working. You can use this to practice your responses until you're confident about your answer. This can also show the interviewer how you reflect on work you've completed in the past.
