Critique the organizational structure. "Organizational structure refers to the formal system of work roles and authority relationships that govern how associates and managers interact with one another" (Hitt et al., 2018, pg. 429). Within my hospital organization, I will follow the simplified organizational structure in order to break it down. At the top we have our executive team. This includes the CEO, clinical business development and innovation officer, chief human resources officer, hospitalist program officer, chief financial officer, chief information officer, chief operating officer, chief nursing officer, and chief medical officer. Beneath each of these individuals, minus the CEO, is each individual area of the hospital. For instance, the chief nursing officer has control over all of the nursing staff. There are nursing supervisors that help to ensure nurses are following the rules and regulations that are expected of them, however, our chief nursing officer is the top person when it comes to anything nursing related. There is a similar structure in place for each of the other positions that fall along the same line as the CEO. What works? What doesn't work? Overall, I feel like this organizational system works but it also has its faults. It works in the sense that things tend to run smoothly.
