First, I want to mention, I never thought in a million years I would have made a total change in my career. I just got to a point where I needed a change, and my career move and change is what was needed. So, far the best decision ever made, since I am now working in the mental health field. One reason that influenced me to choose this program is my son who was diagnosed with ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) as a child and now is 18 years old. My second influence is family members that I am seeing how the effect of mental illness has or is ruining their life. My third influence is my employment. Since working in the mental health field, I see that there is a lack of resources and support for clients and their families, especially in North Caroline where I reside.
