Cuba entered into a radical communist economic and political reform in 1959. In 1999 former President Hugo Chvez started a socialist project in Venezuela (not as extreme as the Cuban model) that has continued after his death led by Nicols Maduro. After several failed attempts within the capitalist system to overcome poverty and achieve economic progress, do you think the Cuban and Venezuelan alternative experiences could be an effective economic development model in the region? Explain your answer.
