Culture, Inclusion, Diversity Black Farmers' Boycott Against John Deere Will Continue, NBFA President John Boyd Announces. (2020). PR Newswire US. This article deals with the National Black Farmers Association (NBFA) boycott against John Deere. The association alleges years of discrimination and inequitable treatment of black farmers by the John Deere Company. After black farmers make purchases from John Deere, the company is slow to respond to service calls, shuts down equipment if the farmers attempts to repair themselves. The company's response to these allegations by creating a Black Farm Group a move which the NBFA describes as offensive and egregious. If these circumstances are true, these actions are not consistent with John Deere's code of business ethics. Therefore, this article will be used to further evaluate the ethical issues of this situation and suggest remedies for both parties, especially John Deere as this can dimmish consumer trust and destroy the brand's authenticity. Davenport, R. (2006). John Deere Champions Workforce Development. T+D, 60(4), 40-43.
