Review the data and results provided by Malit (n.d.). Most of the content is programming code. The descriptions outside of programming code are referred to as the narrative in these instructions. Evidence in research is typically the data or the analyses. (In traditional writing, evidence is typically an external reference.)

Choose topic a or topic b from each of the sections. Ensure that you clearly express which topics you chose to discuss (i.e., use of section headings). the topics you elected to discuss in your paper are evident. This assignment requires you to write a formal paper, not a short-answer document or discussion.

Section One

a) Are there conclusions in the narrative that are not supported by evidence?

If so, what were they? How did you determine that it lacked evidence?

If not, describe at least one conclusion in the narrative and explain how it was supported by evidence.

b) Were any of the analyses particularly insightful?

If so, why? What did you learn?

If not, what methods of analysis may be more insightful? Explain. What might you learn? Be concise and specific.

Section Two

a) The analysis in this article is presented in a notebook format.

Describe at least two benefits and two weaknesses of this method of programming compared to using script files.

In programming, several acronyms are used to explain best practices: DRY, KISS, SOLID, YAGNI, and so on. Choose one of these and explain why a notebook cannot fulfill at least part of the concept.

b) There are essentially no comments in the programming code.

Explain why that is an inferior practice.

Find at least one example of programming code that is not readily understood. Look up the functions; backtrace the variables. After you determine what the code is doing, describe what you found and what comments would have made it easier to understand.

Feel free to collect the data and conduct your own analysis. If you do, ensure that you state that you did this in your paper and indicate where you retrieved the data from. Heres an example of how to do that, Data used in this analysis was derived from Author (date). If you used data from an external source but modified it (i.e., cleaning), then you might annotate it this way, Data used in this analysis was adapted from Author (date).

Then add this external data source as a reference in the reference section. Read what APA has published regarding annotating this type of reference
