Cy Bike Inc., (CBI) is a world class bicycle company serving the professional and "prosumer" cyclists for
touring and off-road racing including those with physical challenges. In the touring bike category, CBI's
handcrafted bicycles have won numerous design awards and are sold in over 10 countries. Also, its bikes
are consistently ridden in the Tour de France and other major international road races. CBI's off-road
bikes are also recognized as incredibly tough and easy to maintain. Its trail bikes are the preferred choice
of world champion off-road racers with and without physical challenges and have become synonymous
with performance and strength in one of the most grueling sports in the world. CBI also sells an
accessories product line comprised of helmets, t-shirts and other riding accessories.
Because of its products are so popular, customers generally have to place orders with sales department or
online one month before the orders can be filled. When a customer orders multiple items and some of
them are out of stock, CBI always wait until all ordered items are available. So the customer only receives
one shipment for one order. If customers order touring bikes and trail bikes, the company generally makes
a separate shipment for each order and does not combine multiple orders. However, if ordered items are
accessories, the company may combine multiple orders into one shipment.
Although CBI's products are very popular, it never asks for advance payment from customers. The
company always ships products first and then sends invoices to customers asking for payment in 45 days.
Customers have to pay in full for each order and no installment payments are allowed. Some customers
make multiple purchases in a month and they may choose to write one check to cover several purchases at
the end of month. All cash receipts are handled by Accounts Receivable clerks and are deposited in CBI's
general checking account. The company maintains several bank accounts.
