Danny is a 42-year-old male who works as an account executive for a biomedical supply company. Dannys work schedule and account territory keeps him away from home five-to-six days a week. During his daytime travels, he fuels up on sporadic meals of fast food, energy drinks, Mountain Dew, and lots of coffee. At night when he checks into his hotel rooms, he usually settles in and then orders room service, while catching up on paperwork and video chatting with his spouse and kids online.
As much as Danny knows he shouldnt, he often indulges nightly in a huge meal of steak or lobster (plus dessert) while on the road. Danny figures he is losing out on seeing his family, so he might as well indulge in something nice while away from home. Plus, the company pays for meal expenses. Although Dannys weight has slowly increased since taking his account executive job, he says he rarely has time to exercise. When he first started the job, he did enjoy going to the hotel pool to swim, but now he is embarrassed to wear his swim trucks in public.
Recently Danny has noticed that he feels sluggish during the day. He is often so tired he has to pull over in a rest stop and take a short cat nap a couple of times during the week. Dan has also noticed that he is thirsty all the time and that he is drinking and urinating much more than he used to. At a recent doctor's visit, Danny was shocked to find he has a body mass index of 40, which is that of an obese man.
