Data Analytics Report Introduction: The project will provide students with an opportunity to investigate the business aspects of a sports team using sports business data. The project has two parts. 1. Evaluate a professional sports franchise: You must choose ONE sports franchise (Boston Celtics, Toronto Raptors, etc.) from any professional league (MLB, NBA, NHL, etc). It can be European or any other country as well. You will examine the market conditions, revenues and costs for this franchise. Specifically, information on market conditions should include analysis on market size, income levels, corporate head offices and some economic specific conditions such as tax advantages. You do not have to find information on all of these aspects, but you must present your chosen team in an engaging fashion. Stating that revenue is XXX, head office is located at YYY is boring. You should spice up the facts. For example, Team Z saw a big drop in revenue from 650 million to 325 million during the pandemic. That's 45% of loss the revenue, which resulted in a number of players leaving the Team. You can also report on revenue and cost information, which includes gate receipts, broadcasting revenue, corporate sponsorship and player costs, etc. Note: Forbes is a publisher of extensive market analysis on Professional sports franchises. You may look at their analysis but please DO NOT duplicate their reports. 2. Investigate the relationship between a dependent variable and independent variable: You are required to choose one league from a professional sports market. You may analyze any league in any sport. A good source of data is from Professor Rodney Fort's website (see Reference 1 below) or from the league's website. Once you collected the data, you need to analyze the relationship between at least three variables using a Multiple Regression model. An example of the regression model can be seen below (You should choose other models): Revenue=hothixWins +h3xMarketSize+h4xNewStadiumDummy+e Note: This is just an example of regression model. You are encouraged to come up a regression equation of your own choosing. In the report, please explain the data source and the variables. The results from the regression model must be presented in a table format with proper labelling. Students must explain and interpret the results in detail using proper economic terminology. You should correctly state the unit of measure (i.e. population is expressed in terms of millions of people).[Inc Date and 1Writing Requirements: The report must be uploaded to Crowdmark no later than 'I'nesday. April 4. 1-023 at Il:3llp m. The overall length of the project should be no more than ll} words [excluding bibliography. graphs. tables. and title page]. You must write concisely. and in a language that is easily understood by the audience. The ideal length is around l words. You must have word count at the end of your writing assignment. Make sure your paper is double spaced and include an additional title page. Tables and graphs should be labeled and inserted in the text. Please generate your own tables and graphs! You must include a regression table to show the data analytics in part 2 of the assignment. The report may have references {in text I footnotes r' endnotes} and a bibliography. Note that you can use either of the two main methods of citation: The American Psychological Association [APA) fomtat of citing references. or, the Modern Language Association [MLA] format styles of citing sources. As it is a writing project. it is important to keep in mind that it must be written in your own words with properly referenced re search sources. Any evidence of plagiarizing will be penalized heavily and may affect your academic standing. For part two of the assignment. you must write a paragraph as an introduction and another paragraph as a conclusion. In the introduction for part 2, you must state the question that you are trying to answer. In the appendix. you must copy the data on the last page of your assignment [Without presenting your data. you will receive a score no higher than HERE}. Data Resources and References: 1.
