This dataset includes data collected from 100 adults who participated in a study about aging and physical well-being. Information was collected from these participants regarding various factors related to physical fitness and health, including:

  • Activity level. How active participants are: either "Sedentary" or "Active."
  • Age.How old participants are: either "Younger than 50" or "50 or older."
  • Pet Ownership.What kind of pet does each participant own: "Cat," "Dog," "Other," or "No pets."
  • Sleep.How much sleep each participant typically gets per night: measured in number of hours.
  • Resting HR.Participants' heart rate measured at rest (i.e., baseline, before workout), in beats per minute.
  • Post Workout HR.Participants' cardiovascular reaction to exercise,heart rate measured immediately after completing a high intensity workout, in beats per minute.

For each question you will need to:

  • Identify the variable or variables in the dataset that match the described research scenario
  • Choose the statistical approach (i.e., hypothesis test) that is appropriate given the described research scenario
  • Run the chosen statistical analysis in jamovi (including any necessary assumption tests; note that for the purposes of this assignment simply note any violations to assumptions you may identify, but then proceed with the analysis)
  • Make a decision about the null hypothesis(es) underlying your analysis
  • Provide a detailed conclusion interpreting the results of each hypothesis test back to the research scenario using the format modelled in class examples and practice problems
  • Answer any additional questions asked of you (where applicable)
