Data were collected on annual personal time (in hours) taken by a random sample of 15

women and 12 men employed by a company. The women took an average of 24.8 hours

with a standard deviation of 2.8 hours. The men took an average of 21.9 hours with a

standard deviation of 3.3 hours. At a 0.05 significance level, we want to test if the mean

hours for women are higher than that for men.

(a) Identify the null and alternative hypothesis

(b) Calculate the value of the test statistics.
