Use clear and concise communications Identify and use real-world resources on position papers in this field Demonstrate problem-solving skills Student 1- If Artie is indeed Autistic, his treatment would differ from Alexa's, who has been diagnosed with Dyslexia. Artie does not pay attention in class and cannot perform the activity. While the other children were able to follow instructions, Artie was not interested in the class activity. In Alexa's case, she is present in class and wants to learn, but due to her Dyslexia she struggles to complete reading and writing assignments. Alexa is also outgoing and sociable, where Artie does not interact with the other kids and does not learn from what the others are doing to receive praise (Cipani, 2017). Artie and Alexa's treatments would look different, in that Artie would benefit from one-on-one educational techniques, where the teacher does not ask open-ended questions. He should have sensory items but not be overly sensory stimulated. He would also benefit from outdoor activities and be taught accordingly to address his Autism (Waterford, 2023). In my opinion, degrading Artie for not getting it right does not help him, and doing that in front of others where he already feels uncomfortable is a negative approach. Alexa, on the other hand, needs specified teaching to address her Dyslexia, but she is more likely to learn from watching others and paying attention in class. She would benefit from encouragement, teacher and family support, and Dyslexia-based approaches in learning, as well as counseling. Student 2- Artie is in preschool who has a lot of issues when it comes to classroom instruction. Artie seems to have difficulties when focusing and is easily distracted during lessons. Artie hasn't been diagnosed but displays an array of disorders like learning disorder, conduct disorder, bipolar disorder, mood disorders, ADHD, and possible autism. "It is typical for Artie to engage in distracting activities like hand weaving, turning around, tantrums, or getting out of his seat" (Cipiani, 2017). It is easy to get Artie diagnosed and treated early for intervention because that will help him be more successful academically. In the case of Oscar who has been diagnosed with oppositional defiant disorder and displays aggressive behavior on occasions. These two cases have a similarity and that's following directions. The difference in the two is that Artie doesn't have control over his behavior but Oscar on the other hand is defiant because he doesn't want to do what is asked of him. Artie would benefit from ABA therapy and Oscar would benefit from a rewards system along with positive reinforcement that will get him to do things.
