  1. DC Tours provides guided tours to groups of visitors to the Washington D.C. area. The company has grown quickly and is having difficulty keeping up with all of the various information needs of the company. The companys operations are as follows.

    1. DC Tours offers many different tours. For each tour, the tour name, approximate length, and fee rate is needed. There are four types of fee rates, namely: adult, senior, child (age 2-11), and child-free (under age 2)

    2. Every tour must be designed to visit at least two locations. For each location, a name, type, and official description are kept. Some locations (such as the White House) are visited by more than one tour, while others (such as Arlington Cemetery) are visited by a single tour. All locations are visited by at least one tour. The order in which the tour visits each location should be tracked as well.

    3. When a tour is actually given, that is referred to as an outing. A tour can have many scheduled outings, although newly designed tours may not have any outings scheduled. Each outing is for a single tour and is scheduled for a particular date and time. All outings must be associated with a tour. All tours at DC Tours are guided tours, so a guide must be assigned to each outing. Each outing has one and only one guide.

    4. Guides are identified by an employee ID, but the system should also record a guides name, home address, and date of hire, and contact number. Few experienced guides are identified as head guides. A head guide may manage several guides, and each guide is managed by one head guide.

    5. Tourists pay to join a scheduled outing. For each tourist, the name and telephone number are recorded. Tourists may sign up to join many different outings, and each outing can have many tourists. Information is kept only on tourists who have signed up for at least one outing, although newly scheduled outings may not have any tourists signed up yet.

    1. Identify all the entities in this company.

    2. For each entity, list its attributes.

    3. Describe the possible relationships between the various entities. For example, a tour can have many

scheduled outings and each outing must be associated with one and only one tour.

    4. Now you are ready to create a Crows Foot notation E-R diagram for this case. For each entity, include the attributes, the primary key, and foreign keys (if any). Name each relationship and diagram both the

minimum and maximum cardinalities. If you cannot infer the cardinalities from the case description, make your own assumption. You can use Visio, Word or any other drawing software to draw your ERD.
