Dear Staff Member, We've had a complaint from a parent that one of our youth workers transported a minor(client) in a private vehicle. I can't see any info on the client's records but apparently this staff member dropped the kid to the train station on her way home from the office so wasn't using a company vehicle. This is a huge no-no!! Can you see what you can find in our policies/procedures around this - might be in a client agreement as well - and check what our legal obligations are when it comes to transporting minors AND being unsupervised in a private vehicle. Let me know what you find so we can follow up. We need to get back to this mum asap.
Evaluate the complaint against the policies and procedures provided to you. You will need to formulate recommendations, supported by evidence from your knowledge of/research into relevant legislation and human services obligations to clients, about necessary improvements to these policies and procedures.
Write a email to your manager, with a summary of the complaint and the obligations of human services providers to the relevant client group. Than summarise your findings and recommendations for improvement to policies/procedures and offer a suggestion on how to proceed with addressing the complaint.
Write a self-reflection on what skills you used, what your challenges were in this task.
