'Dear Student Volunteer

Laurie Holloway (LH) has contacted the LAC seeking some advice on a dispute regarding several artworks that they recently bought from a local art gallery in New Radcliffe. LH works as an art dealer and has previously bought several pieces from the gallery on behalf of her 'ultra-high net worth clients'. LH told the gallery that she was seeking to acquire several pieces, on behalf of a reclusive German billionaire, by the artist Banksy. The gallery sold LH several artworks that were "genuine originals" and which had been "authenticated by the artist". The artworks were delivered to LH, wrapped in brown paper. Upon unwrapping the artworks, LH was shocked to find that they were of unsatisfactory quality and not in line with expectations. Many of the artworks were damaged and LH does not think they are even authentic Banksy works.

LH has heard from a friend that the gallery must refund the money by law, and that if they refuse to, LH can take them to court. In the meantime, LH has withheld a portion of the payment due for the artworks. The art gallery has now issued Court proceedings against LH to recover the payment they say is outstanding.

Please can you consider the above enquiry and let me know your thoughts.
