Denver International Airport is ready to expand based on their Airport Master Plan. At this time the airport has reached 70% of airside capacity and needs to start designing a new parallel runway to add additional capacity. The airport has significant room for expansion; the airport has decided to add an additional runway on the north side of the airfield parallel to Runway 8/26, see Figure 1 for proposed new runway location. This new runway will be called 8L/26R DEN has selected you as their airport designer to create an engineering requirements and specifications document to define what the design criteria for the future proposed Runway 8L/26R needs to be. After your requirements document is compiled, the airport will utilize the document to solicit through an RFQ process an engineering consultant to complete a detailed design of the runway complex.
