Depending on the culture, adaptability can be considered a strength or a weakness. For example, leaders in certain cultures are expected to stand their ground, regardless of the circumstances. For other cultures, adaptability and commitment are highly valued. Such is the case of Vietnamese culture. A saying that the Vietnamese adhere to states: "Cane is flexible and survives storms, Oak is hard and strong, but falls." Research and examine Hofstede's six cultural dimensions. As a leader, why is it important to recognize and understand how the relationship between leaders and followers can be affected by each of these dimensions? Is it the responsibility of leaders and/or followers to adapt?
