It haunts you every day

Waiting on your porch

To snatch happiness away

It is a constant shadow.

Unseen by those around

That walks in your footsteps

And always slows you down

The feeling of life is heavy.

Keeping you near the floor

Without desire or energy

To initiate and explore

It is not by choice or magic

That you keep this plight away

For it creeps into your soul

Stealing all your joy away

Is it payment for your sins or your distorted thoughts?

Or your genetic coding that brings about this loss?

Whatever is the reason for this scourge upon your Soul,

Will you seek to find the answers that will someday make you whole?
