Derivatives are included as a liability in the ABS data. Using the September 2009 ABS Financial Accounts release, which is the release that the ASX would have used, it is clear that the ASX's pie graph of Liabilities of Australian Private Non-Financial Corporations on page 36 includes derivatives in 'other'.
