Describe a hypothesis test study that would help your work or conclusions in some way. Describe what variable would be tested and what would be your guess of the value of that variable. Then include how the result, if the null were rejected or not, might change your conclusions or actions in some way.
My response:
According to the CDC, the prevalence of obesity in children with disabilities is 22%.
Ho Null (Ho)=22%
Valid Alternative (Ha) 22%.
BMI is calculated by dividing a person's weight in kilograms by the square of height in meters and this is the variable I would use to measure childhood obesity in my school to compare to the CDC national results. As lesson 7 states, " If the test statistic value falls in the rejection region, we reject the null hypothesis; if it does not, we fail to reject the null hypothesis" (Chamberlain University, 2022). In the above scenario, if I rejected the null it would mean that the children in my school are more obese or less obese than the national average of children with disabilities.
My feedback from instructor:
All you're interested in is whether or not a population parameter, i.e. a mean or a proportion, has a certain value. You were on the right track with your two hypotheses but they both need a variable in them.
I am super confused on how to correct my answer to include variables. My above response is a hypothetical. Please help with explanation
